The Registry, Portsmouth
- Duration: 3 Months
- Client: Empiric PLC
- Project Type: Specialist Heritage Refurbishment
About this Project
Works included rebuilding in Michelmersh red bricks, replicating original sandstone details, and installing new leadwork and ties.
All repairs were completed in consultation with conservation officers, ensuring heritage integrity was preserved throughout.
Challenges Faced:
The building suffered significant storm damage, including the collapse of the end gable wall, which rendered multiple rooms uninhabitable.
As a Grade II listed structure, all repairs required close consultation with conservation officers to ensure materials and methods met heritage standards. Matching and reproducing damaged sandstone and brickwork demanded precision, including custom fabrication based on original templates.
Additionally, access was limited, requiring complex scaffolding setups and careful coordination to protect the structure during works.
