Corsham Street, London
Structural demolition of a 1960s office block — enabling a new hotel development in a constrained urban setting.
- Duration: 3 Months
- Client: NBM Consultants Ltd
- Project Type: Structural Demolition
About this Project
The works involve the demolition of an existing office building, Satellite House, to facilitate the construction of a new hotel development.
The building comprises five storeys above a semi-buried ground floor.
Constructed in the 1960s, the building consists of a concrete frame clad in masonry and is subdivided by a lift/stair core and shear walls.
Challenges Faced:
The adjacent building, being in close proximity to the site, required a party wall agreement to allow for the erection of scaffolding and to ensure its protection during the demolition works.
The site is located near local residences and businesses, necessitating careful planning to minimise disruption.
With no direct vehicle access to the site, parking bays had to be suspended to facilitate the loading of materials and equipment.
